Bridgeport Child Advocacy Coalition's Annual Breakfast Conference

Bridgeport Child Advocacy Coalition (BCAC) is holding its Annual Breakfast Conference on Thursday, April 24th at 7:30 a.m. at the Holiday Inn in Bridgeport. This year's topic is "Outside the Box: Creative Solutions to Impact Poverty and Improve Education."  The featured speaker is Linda Gibbs, NYC's Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services.  Ms Gibbs directs the Center for Economic Opportunity which is overseeing more than 35 exciting and groundbreaking initiatives to reduce poverty and promote educational achievement in New York City. Ms Gibbs will be talking about specific strategies for addressing poverty and improving academic outcomes for children.

Event: CT Parent Power Schools Meeting-- March 26

On Wednesday, March 26th, 2008 from 6pm-8:30pm, CT Parent Power will be hosting a meeting of its Schools Committee to begin creating long-term goals for the committee.  Members of the Schools Committee will also update parents about School Family Partnerships.

The meeting will be held at the John Barry School, 124 Columbia Street in Meriden.

Resource: Detailed Tables from the U.S Census Bureau on Child Care Arrangements

The U.S. Census Bureau on Child Care recently released a new resource, Who's Minding the Kids? Child Care Arrangements: Spring 2005 Detailed Tables, that includes comprehensive data on child care use, cost, and receipt of government assistance.
